    Just grabbed a section of my screen, a Vertical Monitor setup.
    Running Mint Linux, practically all the tools I need Right out of the Box!

    Awesome, magnificent fantastic, superb Operating System.
    Fast, efficient and useful.
    No more OEM and proprietor hassles, just pure open source bliss!


    Starts up in under a minute. 46.85 seconds. Wow!
    Reboots in under a minute also. 49.39 seconds.
    Shuts down in under 10 seconds! yes you read that right!
    It switches off in only 6.72 seconds.

    Total setup which includes installing the usual soft-wares I use:
    Xiphos for my Bible studies, Stellarium for Star gazing.
    Inkscape and GIMP for Image handling, LibreOffice for Desktop Publishing.
    Blender for my 3D design and advance Graphic works.

Tackling a Tree




On 16 October 2020, Otto and a local tree had a run-in, Otto tripped and head-butted the tree.
Think Otto looks Bad?
You should see the tree...

Not a single scratch.


Needless to say, Otto had a bit of concussion and took some time off.
Apart from the tree incident Ottos laptop also developed a headache, every time.
He tried to do some work, it would overheat and just cut out.

After opening the Laptop up, a wad of dust and fluff had built up, on the heat sink, preventing proper airflow, after giving the machine a good clean we are back in business.

Well constant followers, now you know why things were quiet here on the Southern Front.

After almost a Year, PlebChow has Finally received its own Blog. Finally!

Why Home Cooking? ... Adults also reap considerable benefits from eating home-cooked meals. Research finds that people who eat home-cooked meals on a regular basis tend to be happier and healthier and consume less sugar and processed foods, which can result in higher energy levels and better mental health.

It Is Fun!...Whether you cook for your family, friends or just for yourself, you will always enjoy it. Seeing how different veggies, meat and spices combine to give those gorgeous flavor, makes you really happy. You will enjoy every bit of the process, starting from chopping to baking.

It is Cheaper!...Cooking at home is so much cheaper than eating out, always, and by a wide margin. Home cooking is pretty much a non-negotiable part of our budget since we all have to eat, but the amount that we spend can be hugely variable, and can be more expensive than eating out at times, it boils down to Budgeting.

What is needed for home Cooking?...Start Cooking At Home: 12 Essential Pieces Of Gear That You Need;  1. Skillet - a thick, carbon steel skillet is a better option than a nonstick version. 2.  Roasting Pan - a roasting pan is the perfect container or vessel for Quick-Pan meals. It can also be used as a casserole dish with some foil for a lid, and will serve as a baking sheet in a pinch.
3. Mixing Bowls - A set of three small, medium and large will do to start with. I recommend glass, or food-grade plastic – the choice is up to you.
4. Colander - A stainless steel version with handles is best, but food-grade plastic or other materials are also fine – once again the choice is up to you.
5. Measuring Cups And Spoons - Measuring is essential in successfully making good tasting food, it is Absolutely Critical when Baking,  since there’s a difference between dry and liquid measures, having a set for each is recommended, or get a multipurpose Measuring Jug that facilitates Wet and Dry measures.
6. Cutting Board - Wooden or plastic are the kindest on your knives – stay away from those made of tile, marble, granite, or glass, unless you have low budget and already own one of the not recommended one's - Presently we use a tile.
7. Knives - A chef’s knife, a serrated blade medium or large knife and a paring or small utility knife, will be able to achieve all of the standard kitchen tasks for beginners. 8. Balloon Whisk - This handheld wire whist shaped like a balloon is essential to have, useful fro stirring, mixing sauces and whisking egg whites and cream. 9. Box Grater - with three grating sizes, plus a slicing side, the smallest side is for zesting citrus, and grating ginger, nutmeg, and chocolate. The medium and large-sized holes can be used for grating root veggies for sauces and soups, and hard cheese. And the slicing side is good for shredding items like cabbage, onions, and soft cheeses. 10. Saucepans - One small and two large, with about 1-Liter and 3-Liter capacities. The small one is great for creating sauces or cooking up rice, quinoa, or couscous. The larger one will handle pretty much everything else, such as pasta, veggies, and sauces. 11. Steamer Rack - Either stainless steel or bamboo, a steamer rack is essential, even more so if you want to consider healthy cooking, as steaming veggies retains more nutrients than boiling, plus you’ll make the best rice ever. Just make sure it will fit into your large saucepan with the lid on. 12. Utensils - These are often be purchased in sets if you’re looking for quality buy the separately, you’ll want a set of a wooden spoons, a spatula, vegetable peeler, can opener, Hand operated rotary whisk, and a ladle.
